My natural lashes are short or fine: can I get extensions?
In short: yes, short or fine lashes are not an obstacle — the technique simply adapts to your lashes. I choose lighter and shorter extensions so a fragile lash is never overloaded, and the result stays natural, visible and long-lasting. We decide everything together at the consultation, included with every appointment.
Why short or fine lashes are not a problem
An extension is bonded to a single natural lash, and it is that lash that carries the weight. On fine or short lashes I therefore don’t apply the same thing as on thick lashes: I adapt the length, curl and thickness to what your lashes can genuinely support. That adapting work is exactly what makes the difference between a beautiful, lasting result and a set that pulls.
The idea: lighter, shorter, but clearly visible
On a fine lash, an extension that is too long or too heavy tires the lash and holds less well. So we go with finer, slightly shorter extensions, perfectly proportioned to your eyes. The result shows — that’s the point — while staying natural and comfortable, without that « too much » feeling.
Which technique for fine lashes?
Classic (lash-by-lash), one extension per natural lash, gives a very natural mascara effect, ideal when lashes are already fine. Russian volume uses several ultra-fine extensions per lash to add density without weight, useful to fill in a sparse look. Hybrid blends the two. We choose together based on your lashes and the effect you want; the differences are explained here: Russian volume, classic or hybrid.
The consultation is where it’s all decided
Every appointment includes a personalised consultation. That’s the moment when I look at your natural lashes and we choose together the length, curl and thickness suited to short or fine lashes. This honesty is essential: I never apply heavier than your lashes can carry. If it’s your first time, here’s what to expect: first lash extensions in Nyon.
And what about my natural lashes?
Well applied and well adapted, extensions don’t damage lashes, including fine ones — that’s precisely the point of going lighter. The key factor remains good aftercare and a professional removal rather than pulling them off. I explain all this in detail in do lash extensions damage natural lashes? and how to care for your extensions.
